Wireless connectivity firm Laird Connectivity has joined the recently launched Semtech design partner programme.
California-based Semtech supplies analogue and mixed-signal semiconductors and algorithms. The programme, which debuted in September, streamlines the creation and deployment of LoRa-based IoT products and services by connecting customers with experienced designers that understand LoRa devices and wireless radio frequency technology.
“Semtech’s design partner programme brings unique value to customers by linking them directly with experts on LoRa technology like Laird,” said Matt Lubeley, sales director for engineering services at UK-based Laird.
He said that Laird’s standard LoRa-based products could be coupled with its engineering services and certification capabilities to offer customers what they needed, from a standalone node to a complete IoT network.
“Collaborating with Semtech means we will have a system in place to easily find and work with customers directly to create and deploy innovative LoRa-based solutions to market even faster,” said Lubeley.
Laird’s engineering services capabilities, coupled with its growing Sentrius LPWAN ecosystem of LoRa-based products, can enable the acceleration of LoRa-based IoT services. The engineering services provide customisations of standard product offerings as well as full end-to-end product development. Combined with a testing and certification laboratory, Laird has the expertise and tools to support LoRa projects to help ensure successful deployment.
“The continued growth of the Semtech design partner programme is indicative of the continued success of LoRa technology as a proven leader for the IoT,” said Vivek Mohan, director of IoT in Semtech’s wireless and sensing products group. “Collaboration with Laird and our design partner programme will help organisations create scalable, easy-to-deploy LoRa-based IoT solutions and networks faster and more efficiently, simplifying IoT connectivity for enterprises around the globe.”
Semtech’s LoRa devices and wireless radio frequency technology is a widely adopted long-range, low-power option for IoT that gives telecoms companies, IoT application makers and system integrators the feature set to deploy low-cost, interoperable IoT networks, gateways, sensors, module products and IoT services worldwide.
IoT networks based on the LoRaWan specification have been deployed in 100 countries and Semtech is a founding member of the LoRa Alliance.
Laird Connectivity specialises in wireless modules and antennas, integrated sensor and gateway platforms, and customer-specific wireless products.
