ZTE Corporation (ShenZhen, P.R.C), a global provider of telecommunications equipment, announced it will supply GPON fiber to the home (FTTH) equipment for BelTelecom’s (Minsk, Belarus) national broadband network project in Belarus.

The project, which is comprised of multiple phases, aims to build a high-speed network that spans the entire country. The first phase covers all the seven regions of the country, including the capital of Minsk, with expansion planned for subsequent phases. According to BelTelecom, once completed, the project is expected to provide data and video services, as well as broadband applications such as distance education and telemedicine, across a high-speed Internet infrastructure. In addition, it will also deliver HDTV service to users across the country.

BelTelecom operates all the fixed-line and data transmission services in Belarus and holds a stake in the top 3 local mobile operators. ZTE started to provide BelTelecom with IPTV products in 2007, and has since supplied the operator with more than 1.5 million ADSL terminals.

ZTE’s FTTH solution is based on the ZXA10 C300next-generation integrated access platform and uses a range of Optical Network Terminals (ONTs).

“We have paid close attention to BelTelecom’s broadband construction all along. Ever since ZTE started to supply fixed-line terminals, we have been offering them customized products and services,” said ZTE Vice President Xu Ming.
