Verizon Home Monitoring and Control Service to make ‘connected home’ reality in planned community

Planned community Brambleton announced yesterday that it will be Verizon’s first community in the U.S. to offer the Verizon Home Monitoring and Control Service making the concept of the “Connected Home” a reality. The service will enable Brambleton homeowners to lock doors remotely; see what’s going on at home via networked cameras; and set, adjust and control lights, smart thermostats and appliances — all by using a smartphone, a computer or through FiOS TV.

“Brambleton prides itself in providing its residents the best in new home design and technology,” Kim Adams, Director of Marketing for Brambleton, said. “We are excited to offer this high-tech amenity that is not only convenient but will also help reduce home energy consumption.”

Equipment such as a smart thermostat and a Home Control gateway will allow people to monitor their electricity usage and receive energy efficiency tips from the Home Control portal. The Verizon Home Monitoring and Control Service will be available for Brambleton homes as early as Fall 2011.

Encompassing nearly 2,000 acres in Loudoun County, Virginia — and with 8,181 single-family homes, townhomes, and condominiums, Brambleton features eight homebuilders including Beazer Homes, Camberley Homes, Gulick Group, Miller and Smith, Pulte Homes, Stanley Martin Homes, Van Metre Homes and Winchester Homes. In the heart of the community is Brambleton Town Center, a mixed-use development consisting of 50 specialty stores, services and restaurants, as well as Harris Teeter and Regal Fox 16 Cinemas.

Brambleton has also earned the “Community of the Year” award for the past five years from The Maryland-National Capital Building Industry Association and the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association and is the 8th Top-Selling community in the US according to RCLCO.

Brambleton is owned and operated by Soave Real Estate.
