Deutsche Telekom and iPass launch global WiFi services exchange

Deutsche Telekom and iPass Inc. last week announced their partnership to create WiFi Mobilize, a new network services exchange for in-country and international roaming services. The exchange is designed to help carriers meet the accelerating demand from their customers for data services on smartphone and tablet devices, and to optimize their network investments. The partnership will provide a solution for new data offload, international roaming, and inter-standard traffic management services for GSM, CDMA and WiFi operators.

AT&T plans wireless security service for 2012

AT&T Inc plans to launch a wireless security srvice for consumers next year to help combat a big rise in cyber attacks on mobile devices, a top executive said.

As more people use smartphones like Apple Inc's iPhone and Google Inc's Android-based devices to download Web applications, John Stankey, the head of AT&T's enterprise business, said he had seen a big spike in security attacks on cellphones.

"Hackers always go to where there's a base of people to attack," Stankey said in an interview ahead of the Reuters Technology Media and Telecommunications Summit.
