Cinterion, a provider of cellular machine-to-machine (M2M) communication modules, announced on Tuesday that Linyang Electronics, an electronic information enterprise in the smart meter market, is integrating Cinterion's tiny BGS2 in their smart metering products and power utilization management terminals.

On Tuesday, Sprint announced that it is partnering with Orange Business Services to provide global machine-to-machine (M2M) connectivity outside the U.S. Through the agreement, Sprint will expand its M2M reach to include Sprint-branded global M2M connectivity to 180 countries on Orange’s network.
Switzerland’s largest telecom operator Swisscom and telecom equipment maker Ericsson have launched a machine-to-machine (M2M) partnership. Under the agreement, Swisscom will offer customers M2M services using Ericsson’s Device Connection Platform.
The first trials will start in February 2012, with the commercial introduction of services scheduled for the summer 2012, says Swisscom. The partnership will span across Switzerland as well as abroad.
