VON Fall 2006: Vertek Goes for an MBA

Program will Assist Partnerships Formed to Deliver Digital Content Services

Vertek is using this week’s Fall VON in Boston to unveil its hosted Managed Business Assurance (MBA) offering for companies partnering to deliver new digital content services, MVNO services and IPTV services.

“I don’t think a lot of people are looking in this area” of partnership management, said Michael Harrington, director of financial assurance at Vertek. “Typically, revenue assurance and financial assurance in telecom focuses more on end subscriber billing and carrier costs [and] facility costs.”

The Vertek MBA program provides third party analysis including insight into the partnership by tracking and trending invoice settlements, disputes, high level performance metrics, data synchronization and subscriber base analysis. It also manages the monthly data receipt, normalization, analysis and reporting updates, provides relationship guidelines for partnered companies, Vertek said.

“We’re finding issues that are worked very proactively,” Harrington said. “We help, in a way, like a neutral party oversight team between the companies, doing a lot of weekly facilitation between the companies on resolving issues, revising processes and things of that nature.”

Harrington said he could not name Vertek’s primary customer, other than to say it is a “tier one carrier [where] we’re managing nine pf their partner relationships … from content providers, CPE management to warranty providers on a monthly basis.”
