Application platform ThingWorx has formed a global reseller alliance with JAL21, a consulting and business development firm, aimed at expanding the reach of ThingWorx-powered M2M solutions.
The arrangement will see JAL21 become a reseller of the ThingWorx (Exton, PA, USA) software platform in southern Europe and Latin America.
With offices in Madrid, London and Silicon Valley, JAL21 (Madrid, Spain) comprises a number of senior executives from the telecoms and internet industries, and ThingWorx is looking to tap into the organization’s expertise.
It says the partnership will allow JAL21 to address a number of M2M industries, including manufacturing, utilities and energy – as well as emerging “Internet of Things” businesses like smart cities, smart infrastructure and smart transportation.
“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with ThingWorx, a company with a unique and very powerful technology that enables rapid solution deployment in the M2M industry worldwide,” said Juan Latasa, the chief executive of JAL21. “The partnership will enable JAL21 to drive a cycle of continuous innovation within our customer base.”
Referring to Ericsson’s (Stockholm, Sweden) prediction that there will be 50 billion connected ‘things’ by 2020, ThingWorx reckons there will need to be at least five million applications created “to drive value”.
“JAL21’s rich experience in telco and internet technologies, combined with its local presence in Spain and Latin America, make them an ideal partner to drive growth of the emerging connected world,” said Russ Fadel, the chief executive and co-founder of ThingWorx.
“JAL21’s industry and market focus, together with the ThingWorx rapid application enablement platform, will be instrumental in delivering this value and the promise of the connected world,” he said.
