Telefonica has teamed up with PC maker Dell to provide a ‘pay-as-you-go’ mobile broadband service for laptop and tablet computers equipped with M2M SIMs.
Under the Dell (Round Rock, TX, USA) NetReady service, consumers in Europe will be able to use 3G services on various Windows 7 and Windows 8 devices through an on-demand service.
The companies say the offer is aimed at companies that want to provide their employees with “fast and reliable connectivity, anytime and anywhere, paying only for what they need”.
Although not a typical M2M deal, the agreement will see M2M SIMs combined with an application allowing customers to choose from a wide range of connectivity bundles.
Telefonica (Madrid, Spain) reckons there is huge pent-up demand among European businesses easy-to-use mobile connectivity services that do not come with long-term customer obligations.
It says the Dell NetReady service can be activated out of the box, making it “ready to go”.
Customers can select from a range of offers, from 30 minutes of connectivity to a month-long service.
The operator also says that data roaming charges are fully transparent, allowing customers to use services without having to worry about the cost.
