Network testing and measurement solutions provider Sunrise Telecom today announced the release of a new spectrum analyzer. The AT2500RQ4, a portable CATV spectrum analyzer, is designed to provide enhanced Modulation Error Rate (MER) performance and improve impairment detection in the head end to ensure that operators can eliminate problems in the network before they affect the end customer experience, according to Sunrise Telecom's press release.
The AT2500 series offers features including automated digital proof of performance test capabilities, answering cable operators’ need for a solution that assesses the quality of a rapidly expanding range of digital video services.
“The demand for digital video continues to grow at a very rapid rate and cable service providers are reacting to bandwidth demand, aggressively deploying “all digital cable plants”, explained Bahaa Moukadam, CEO of Sunrise Telecom.
In delivering linear digital channels as well as video-on-demand, HDTV and digital video advancements such as 3DTV, broadband network technicians face the challenge of keeping the “all digital” cable plant operating at peak performance at all times. “Along with improved bandwidth efficiency, digital networks can be far more susceptible to performance degradation from network impairments," Moukadam said. "Using the Annex A compliant AT2500RQ4, technicians have access to an easy-to-use solution that ensures cable subscribers are receiving digital video selections without any disruption.”
According to Sunrise Telecom's press release, the AT2500RQ4 allows technicians to quickly perform sophisticated tests and get accurate results at higher MER levels. In addition, the unit’s automated Digital Proof of Performance test allows users to test the entire digital channel spectrum with the push of a single button. Sunrise Telecom’s AT2500 Spectrum Analyzer ensures delivery of high quality digital video feeds and helps troubleshoot issues that impact QAM-supported digital video offerings, allowing operators to quickly catch impairments before they escalate into major service interruptions.
Along with the AT2500RQ4 test engine, Sunrise Telecom offers realWORX WEB, a 24/7 return path monitoring and downstream performance system for pin-pointing service-affecting issues, before they become customer-affecting issues. Offering unsurpassed sensitivity, realWORX WEB identifies network impairments and correctly defines the problem type, alerting the user immediately, thereby increasing the productivity of field personnel.
