SeeControl and Western Power have announced the availability of a new farm equipment monitoring service allowing farmers to track deployed assets.
Branded AgTracr, the service combines SeeControl’s (Redwood City, CA, USA) M2M cloud-platform capabilities with Western Power’s (Bakersfield, CA, USA) expertise in the farm-equipment sector.
Described as a “plug-n-play” solution, AgTracr is intended to support location tracking, event monitoring and fault reporting functionality.
It can also be used to generate detailed reports about ways to make the usage of agricultural equipment more efficient.
Based on SeeControl’s Nexus cloud platform, it can be modified to produce additional tailored reporting and customized analytics.
The companies say the offering provides all the location-aware reporting benefits of traditional telematics systems without requiring customers to incur the expense needed for software and IT support.
Customers can monitor their assets using PCs, laptops or mobile devices.
“Smaller farm operators have been watching larger OEMs and corporate farming businesses incorporate telematics into their standard product offerings and operating procedures,” said Tim Miller, general sales manager of Western Power Products. “They are beginning to appreciate the considerable improvements in equipment utilization and productivity that well-deployed systems facilitate.”
“SeeControl’s versatile cloud-based software-as-a-service reporting combined with new lower-cost hardware will bring big-company benefits to these smaller users,” added Miller. “We’re excited about the opportunity to provide serious productivity tools with lower costs of ownership to a market that, up to this point, has largely been on the outside looking in.”
