More than 80% of a wireless operator’s energy operational expenses are directly related to electricity consumption, so containing operational expenditures (OPEX) is a top concern for many mobile executives. Wireless operators need innovative green solutions, which can deliver bottom-line savings, without the impact of a major infrastructure overhaul.
Nexius, a company delivering end-to-end wireless services and software solutions to industries worldwide, Tuesday announced the launch of a new green energy service designed to reduce wireless operators’ utility bills up to 20%. The service applies Nexius’ strategic wireless industry consulting knowledge with eCurv’s asynchronous regulation system to deliver real-time visibility and control of wireless operators’ energy consumption.
Edison Almeida, eCurv’s CEO, said, “With eCurv asynchronous regulation, power is used at the right place and the right time without affecting equipment performance. Our solution drives energy cost reductions by bringing peak demand under control, saving the wireless industry millions of dollars annually. Nexius’ expertise in engineering services and software solutions will have an immediate impact on scaling and further developing our solution.”
In addition to the cost savings that the Nexius green energy service provides, it also uses eCurv’s asynchronous regulation system to offer visibility into a wireless operator’s energy consumption down to the individual cell site. This enables wireless operators to determine their return on investment on a per-site level. The joint solution also includes a full assessment from Nexius of the wireless operator’s current utilities spend and provides a detailed strategy for cost reduction on a network-wide basis.
“The Nexius green energy service enhances Nexius’ asset management solution by providing a tool for obtaining deeper insights into a network’s energy usage. The eCurv technology innovations delivered through this service give Nexius consultants a real-time view into our customers’ actual energy consumption on a per-asset level,” said Chris Haidet, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Nexius. “Monitoring energy consumption and implementing simple and effective ways to use energy more efficiently are the first steps to transforming traditional networks. We look forward to partnering with our wireless operator customers as they leverage Nexius’ green energy solutions to compete not only on network coverage and service quality but also on the amount of energy they consume.”
