Europe’s premier vendor organization for machine-to-machine communications (M2M) and the world’s largest M2M event organizer have announced that their joint marketing agreement will expand into full-blown partnership. The M2M Alliance has been working with the M2M Zone in joint promotional activities since 2010, but now their cooperation will include the exchange of content, membership services, and strategic consultation for the first time, in addition to joint exhibition and conference activities.
The new, formal relationship will immediately feature participation in conference content, and will be expanded from there. “We think the time has come to offer one-stop services for solutions providers serving the M2M industry, in helping them reach out to OEMs and other adopters of M2M technology,” says Eric Schneider, chairman of the M2M Alliance.
Unveiling of the new relationship will be made at the M2M Summit, the Alliance’s annual conference, to be held September 5 at the Congress Center in Dusseldorf, Germany. Conference topics will include e-cars and smart transportation, mobile payments through near-field communications, and remote industrial machine control, among others. Attendance is free to M2M Alliance members, and major sponsors for the event include telecoms carriers Vodafone and Deutsche Telekom, as well as module maker Telit.
Keith Kreisher, director of the M2M Zone, who will moderate a session at the upcoming conference, says, “Our work with the M2M Alliance will make decisions easier for M2M vendors that are suddenly faced with a plethora of choices in trying to reach their customers—we’re the two largest organizations serving the industry, and we look forward to increased cooperation at our M2M Zone event at the big CeBIT show this spring in Hanover.”
