German operator Deutsche Telekom says a new M2M collaboration with Wavefront, Canada’s Centre of Excellence for Wireless Commercialization and Research, will help it develop its M2M business in the fast-growing North American region.
The two organizations say they will work together on developing the M2M market in North America.
While Wavefront (Vancouver, Canada) will provide companies with access to educational seminars, testing resources and advisory services, Deutsche Telekom (Bonn, Germany) will offer its own extensive M2M resources to market players.
“To accelerate the development in this market we have to tap into and promote the creative potential of small companies and start-ups now,” said Jurgen Hase, Head of Deutsche Telekom's M2M Competence Center. “The new relationship with Wavefront will help Deutsche Telekom gain access to the M2M community in North America and support business development in this important region.”
According to figures published by Machina Research, M2M revenues in North America are set to grow from €58 billion in 2013 to €140 billion in 2017.
“M2M is one of the fastest growing areas in the global wireless ecosystem,” said James Maynard, the president and chief executive of Wavefront. “This partnership will facilitate a valuable new connection point between Canada’s wireless talent and Deutsche Telekom’s extensive technical knowledge, commercial capabilities and international reach.”
Wavefront has recently set up an M2M Zone at its facilities in Vancouver and claims this has seen tremendous interest from the North American wireless community.
From February this year, Deutsche Telekom will establish a presence at Wavefront’s Vancouver facility, providing access to its M2M solutions and resources, including the M2M Partner Portal and M2M Developer Community.
Besides showcasing its solutions, Deutsche Telekom will also run a series of seminars and events across Canada, giving it the opportunity to connect with companies interested in the M2M opportunity.
Deutsche Telekom says it will also participate in a Vancouver M2M Summit on February 4 that is being organized by Wavefront.
