B3IT has partnered with Swedish mobile operator Tele2 on the launch of an intelligent-parking service designed to help drivers find, reserve and pay for parking spaces in advance.
The Swedish IT consulting company says teaming up with Tele2 (Stockholm, Sweden) to provide its dynamiIQ parking technology will minimize the problems related to parking in busy urban areas.
It cites research suggesting that as much as 30% of city traffic is people looking for a free parking slot, and says the result is wasted time and fuel, frustrated drivers, excess carbon emissions and negative impact on the local economy and quality of life.
“By using a holistic approach and applying a combination of modern technologies to parking we can ensure that all stakeholders will have the information needed to make the best possible decision at any time,” said Magnus Melander, the chief executive of B3 Connect Compute.
“Drivers can plan their journeys ahead, owners of parking space can maximize utilization and service as well as adjusting prices to demand properly and traffic planners can build plans based on real historical data,” he added.
With parking-related problems set to grow along with urban populations, B3IT (Stockholm, Sweden) says that ‘smart cities’ will increasingly need services like dynamIQ parking in future.
The company says it can respond quickly to demand from prospective clients. “We can have a pilot up and running in two months from decision,” said Sven Uthorn, the chief executive of B3IT Management.
The service can be used with smartphones, tablets and computers, but can also be made available through the use of digital signs and interactive kiosks.
The concept was announced at the ITS World Congress in Vienna earlier this year, since when B3IT has secured the partnerships needed to roll out commercial services.
