This week at CeBIT in Hannover, Germany, Orga Systems, a provider of real-time billing portfolios, is demonstrating its Energy & Service Billing Platform, which is able to bill energy usage in line with hourly spot market prices and is being shown in a “Wind-to-Home” scenario.

Through this billing platform, users can activate price control on the device that is being used, says Orga Systems (Panderborn, Germany) The energy service provider receives forecasts of storage capacity and can send weekly bills and notifications of threshold in between to the users. A user can also prompt consumption and current expenses for the household (smart metering) and selected devices (sub-metering) enabled for Wind-to-Home tariffs. A home automation system switches the device (e.g. heating rod) according to energy price.

The system can also be used for other Demand Side Management (DSM) applications such as heat-pumps and electrical vehicles.

The prices are used to trigger a DSM, a modification of user demand for energy, for selected home devices. The focus is on the substitution of fossil fuels for water heating of private households in times when excessive and cheap wind energy from the electricity grid is available.

Orga Systems is a partner of the research initiative “Connected Energy – SHAPE” co-funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.  All services are integrated into the Connected Living IT architecture and operate through a Home Service Platform (HSP) and a Service Provider Platform (SPP).

By using this billing platform, the end user saves consumption costs while energy service providers are able to bring additional energy to market. The substitution of fossil fuels reduces CO2-Emissions, says the company.
