Nokia launches 3 music phones

HELSINKI (Reuters)

HELSINKI (Reuters) - Nokia unveiled three new music phones on Wednesday and laid out further expansion plans for its music service as the world's top cell phone maker seeks additional revenue streams.

Nokia unveiled the 5730 model, which targets the social networking trend with a full sliding keyboard, priced at 280 euros ($355) excluding subsidies and taxes.

Nokia also unveiled the 5330 model, priced at 160 euros, and the 5030 model, priced at 40 euros when excluding subsidies and taxes.

Nokia said it will expand its "Comes with Music" bundled service, currently available in Britain and Singapore, to Australia later this month.

"Additional launches, including Italy, Sweden and Mexico, are planned for the coming several months," it said.

The music industry has hoped the "Comes with Music" phones and music service, and similar packages from other hardware vendors, will help make up for falling CD sales and reduce illegal downloads.

"Comes with Music" offers unlimited music from major music labels and a number of independents, and the music can be kept after the yearly contract has expired.

The individual tracks can be downloaded to a phone and a single computer and are free, though the cost of the music is reflected in the price of the phone itself.
