Qualcomm’s MediaFLO Teams with Network LIVE for Concerts, Comedy and More

Wholly owned Qualcomm subsidiary MediaFLO USA Inc. and Network LIVE, a joint venture between AOL, XM Satellite Radio and AEG, have signed a multi-year pact to provide Network LIVE content and programming for MediaFLO USA’s wireless multimedia service offering.

Network LIVE says it will develop and distribute programming, including live and prerecorded concerts with comedy performances and other special events, via MediaFLO USA, making Network LIVE content available to MediaFLO USA wireless operator partners.

MediaFLO USA’s nationwide network, based on FLO technology, will deliver high-quality video and audio programming to 3G mobile phones. MediaFLO USA is working with leading content providers to aggregate and mobilize compelling programs and services to create new market opportunities for service providers.

In addition to deploying and operating a nationwide media delivery network, MediaFLO USA is aggregating wireless multimedia content for service delivery on the network.

Leveraging the multicasting capabilities of MediaFLO USA’s service, wireless operators can provide this high-quality multimedia content from Network LIVE to millions of subscribers across the United States at the same time.

"In today’s digital culture, entertainment consumption knows no boundaries. Consumers want their content when, how and where they want it," said Kevin Wall, CEO of Network LIVE, in preared comments. "The MediaFLO USA service provides a complete solution for bringing our popular multimedia programs to wireless subscribers and entertainment fans, expanding our reach in the United States beyond the Internet, radio and television."

MediaFLO USA says it’s "committed to ensuring our wireless operator partners have a wide range of content options to offer their subscribers and Network LIVE helps us fulfill that promise," said Gina Lombardi, president of MediaFLO USA, in prepared comments.
