NEC Corporation, and information technology (IT) company, and Wyless Inc., a provider of machine-to-machine (M2M) wireless connectivity services, announced on Wednesday that they have signed an agreement to form a strategic alliance to explore end-to-end M2M service opportunities.

Under this agreement, NEC (Tokyo) will promote Wyless‘ (London) advanced management software, Porthos, to mobile network operators and enterprises worldwide. In addition, NEC will add Porthos to its M2M CONNEXIVE services.

M2M CONNEXIVE is an M2M service platform that packages the basic M2M services to deliver them quicker to market. Furthermore, Wyless will promote NEC’s M2M CONNEXIVE services to its customers.

“NEC will be integrating our platform into [NEC’s] M2M Service  Platform (Connexive). This translates into a one stop end-to-end M2M Development Solution with SIM and Network Management. We will both be promoting the full end-to-end solution to carriers and enterprise,” says Ryan Keefe, vice president of global business development at Wyless. “Of course, Wyless will also continue to grow our traditional business as the largest global M2M Managed Services Provider.

According to Keefe, this partnership will help both companies cover new regions and give them access to all regions globally.

“This partnership with Wyless is an ideal opportunity to mutually extend our M2M business capabilities to customers throughout the world,” said Shigeru Okuya, vice president and senior general manager, NEC Corporation.

“The benefits of this NEC/Wyless offering will provide MNO and Large Enterprise partners with both increased transparency and end to end solutions, allowing them to more effectively manage both the growth and risk of their M2M business,” said Keefe. “We believe that the joint solution will offer the market a comprehensive suite of services that is unrivaled in the industry and we are looking forward to promoting our joint services with NEC.”

This is the first time NEC and Wyless have worked together.
