Network management and security specialist Mako Networks has teamed up with Sprint to provide services for the operator’s mobile customers.

According to the company’s statement, the deal will see Mako’s (Auckland, New Zealand) technology added to Sprint’s (Overland Park, KS, USA) portfolio of services for retailers and distributed enterprises.

It means customers will now be able to buy Mako’s solution together with Sprint’s wireless service to connect, protect, control and secure data and payment transactions.
Mako’s technology allows distributed enterprises to manage network connections using a cloud-based system.

The tie-up with Sprint means the company can also now offer a secondary internet connection, or ‘failover’ option, transferring a business’s internet connection to Sprint’s wireless connection if the fixed-line connection is disrupted.

The agreement also gives Mako a large addressable base of Sprint business customers to which it can market its products.

“Sprint is the perfect company for Mako to align with in bringing our solution to the distributed enterprise market here in the United States,” said Simon Gamble, the president of Mako’s North American operations. “With Sprint’s sizeable footprint in M2M solutions and world-class network, we believe that US businesses will be delighted with the solution our services provide.”

Sprint says the deal ties in with its retail M2M strategy of integrating new “omni-channel” technology while delivering valuable data analytics to retailers.

“Mako’s technology is leading the way in secure, PCI-compliant networking for the distributed enterprise,” said Ben Vos, the vice president of emerging solutions at Sprint.

“Our business customers will appreciate the ease of use and powerful connectivity options the Mako system provides.”
