Iridium signs five new partners, including KORE Telematics

Iridium Communications Inc. (McLean, VA, USA) has signed agreements with five new partners to market Iridium-based solutions for the mobile machine-to-machine sector. The company hopes these new partnerships will open up numerous customer opportunities.

Iridium–formerly “Iridium Satellite LLC”–operates a network of 66 active orbiting satellites used for worldwide voice and data communication from handsets and other transceivers.


Iridium Communications Inc. (McLean, VA, USA) has signed agreements with five new partners to market Iridium-based solutions for the mobile machine-to-machine sector. The company hopes these new partnerships will open up numerous customer opportunities.

Iridium–formerly “Iridium Satellite LLC”–operates a network of 66 active orbiting satellites used for worldwide voice and data communication from handsets and other transceivers.

A few big names in M2M are associated with this news, most notably KORE Telematics (Alpharetta, GA, USA), an M2M service provider, and Digi International (Minnetonka, MN, USA), a developer of wireless M2M solutions including satellite and ZigBee products.

KORE will integrate satellite connectivity into its “PRiSMPro” platform as a result of this partnership. Digi will take advantage of the new partnership throughout “numerous” unspecified applications.

Other announced partners are ACR Electronics, who will extend the range of their emergency distress beacons thanks to the partnership; DeLorme, a specialist in mapping for consumer and professional level GPS devices; and Xact Technology, a provider of GPS and Location-Based Services.
