Huawei embedded modules achieve Verizon certification

Huawei (Shenzhen, P.R.C), a network and telecommunications equipment provider, on Thursday announced that the Huawei MC323 and the EM660 have been certified on the Verizon Wireless (Basking Ridge, N.J.) network. According to Verizon, the MC323 and EM660 will provide machine-to-machine (M2M) and other embedded device OEMs and CE device manufacturers with cost-effective modules that enable manufacturers to develop solutions that will operate on its network.

According to Verizon, the MC323 and EM660 will provide machine-to-machine (M2M) and other embedded device OEMs and CE device manufacturers with cost-effective modules that enable manufacturers to develop solutions that will operate on its network.

The MC323 is a 2G module that is designed for applications that are used in business-to-business applications including fleet management, utilities, retail, security, asset tracking and other M2M applications. The module is 32.5 x 35 x3.05mm and weighs 6.0g. It features CDMA2000 1X (153.6 kbps UL, 153.6 kbps DL), with interfaces including USB 2.0 full-speed, power on/off and hardware reset.

Huawei’s EM660 provides capabilities that are tuned to the unique needs of laptops, tablets and M2M solutions. The module is 51 x 30 x 5mm and weights less than 30g. It features EVDO Rev.A (3.1 Mbps UL, 1.8 Mbps DL), with Rx delivery and an equalizer.

“With telematics and M2M becoming more prevalent in our business lifestyle, we are always looking for the best technologies to power these applications and Huawei’s modules passed our stringent tests,” said Aparna Khurjekar, executive director of open development at Verizon Wireless.

“Both the MC323 and EM660 are the first Huawei embedded modules certified to run on the Verizon Wireless network,” said Jiangao Cui, President of Huawei Device North America.
