ETSI and T&D Europe announced today that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on the development of ETSI standards for smart grid. Through this agreement, T&D Europe will provide input and requirements from the electricity transmission and distribution industry to ETSI's smart grid standardization activities. T&D Europe's members will be able to validate ETSI's standards, ensuring that they meet the needs of the smart grid industry.
Ericsson today entered an agreement to acquire Telenor Connexion's M2M (machine-to-machine) technology platform. The acquisition follows Ericsson's ambition to drive the market for M2M communication, adding valuable technology and know-how from eleven employees that will be transferred as part of the deal.
Telenor Connexion is wholly owned by Telenor Group, one of the world's major mobile operators with 203 million mobile subscribers.
Atheros Communications, Inc. today announced the industry's first HomePlug Green PHY (HPGP) emulation development kit. The Atheros PL-14 HPGP development kit consists of a hardware platform based on existing HomePlug AV silicon, adapted to support serial peripheral interface (SPI) ports enabling connectivity to a vast family of low-cost and low-energy microcontrollers (MCUs), as well as an emulation firmware and software driver with application programming interfaces (APIs) to support future Atheros Green PHY products.
