Sensus (Raleigh, N.C.), a utilities infrastructure company, on Monday announced its AquaSense intelligent water management system, which integrates the Sensus FlexNet two-way communications network- a network that provides smart grid utilities with multiple channels free of interference from competing traffic- with advanced meters, software and services to help utilities boost operational efficiency and customer engagement.
Sensus is helping water utilities across the country implement water management projects.
Octo Telematics (Rome, Italy), a company providing telematics to the insurance and automotive market, on Wednesday announced its partnership with Telenor Connexion (Stockholm, Sweden), an M2M network provider. The partnership will allow Octo Telematics to use Telenor’s standardized connectivity applications for multiple markets including an online service portal and APN/VPN.

Closing is anticipated in Q4 2011 with full effect in Q1 2012.
This will be Ericsson’s second major acquisition in recent months, having just recently acquired the M2M service platform of Telenor Connexion in April.
SK Telecom (Seoul, South Korea), a mobile operator in Korea, will soon increase its network capacity by four times with 40 gigabits per second (40G) transmission, and prepare its network for transition to 100G capacity in the future. The operator has selected Nokia Siemens Networks’ (Espoo, Finland) 100G-ready optical network equipment for its capacity expansion. The system uses dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM), where a number of different wavelengths of light transport data down the same optical fiber, each carrying information at 40G.
