Navigation technology player TomTom has changed the name of its Business Solutions unit to TomTom Telematics.
The name change has been made to reflect the strong position the company enjoys in the telematics market thanks to its WEBFLEET product, a software-as-a-service platform designed to help fleet businesses improve vehicle performance, save fuel, support drivers and increase efficiency.
In a statement, TomTom (Amsterdam, Netherlands) said WEBFLEET would henceforth be positioned as its leading product brand for the fleet-management market.
TomTom says WEBFLEET can be incorporated with a range of software and hardware.
“The fleet management market is expanding rapidly,” said Thomas Schmidt, the managing director of TomTom Telematics. “We are focused on maintaining our strong growth in this sector through innovation and the development of strategic partnerships. WEBFLEET will continue to help companies achieve higher standards of efficiency, customer service and corporate responsibility.”
In January, TomTom said its fleet-management business had grown by 38% in 2013 to serve a total of 330,000 connected vehicles.
In addition, its Business Solutions division flagged 11% year-on-year revenue growth in the final quarter of the year, to €21 million ($28.7 million), even though overall revenues slide by 11%, to €244 million.
