Slovakian telecoms incumbent Slovak Telekom has launched a cloud-based fleet-management service in a clear sign of its interest in developing a portfolio of M2M services.
Branded Telekom Fleet, the solution allows enterprises to manage fleet activities, providing detailed information about the movement of vehicles, fuel consumption and driving behavior.
Telekom Fleet uses GPS technology to support the remote-monitoring functionality, and allows customers to view information through a web interface on computers and mobile devices.
Slovak Telekom (Bratislava, Slovakia) – majority owned by Germany’s Deutsche Telekom (Bonn) – says the chief benefits for customers are cost and time savings, plus greater efficiency in terms of vehicle usage.
Users of the service can also generate reports on their entire fleet of vehicles and make improvements to their planning – more than 100 types of report are available and Slovak Telekom can generate customized reports depending on specific requirements.
The operator says Telekom Fleet is suitable for all types of businesses – from companies with only a few vehicles to large organizations managing an extensive fleet.
It can also be used to manage bus and rail transport and some industrial machinery, said the operator.
Features of the service include a fuel gauge, driver identification and navigation functionality.
Slovak Telekom says another advantage of the solution is the openness of the platform on which it is based, allowing partner applications to be integrated easily with the customer’s internal systems.
