M2M platform developer SeeControl is to supply a range of cloud-based remote-monitoring services to All-Terrain Communications (ATC), which provides tank-level and pump-monitoring solutions to the oil and gas, utilities, agriculture, and food and beverage industries.
SeeControl (Redwood City, CA, USA) says its technology will allow ATC (Daphne, AL, USA) to target new M2M opportunities, reducing costs and improving efficiency for end users.
According to a statement issued by the companies, ATC had struggled to find an affordable software application allowing it to monitor tanks across various industries, with rising demand for remote tank monitoring and optimization forcing it to handle a variety of different tank types.
Another challenge for ATC was integration with a wide range of hardware and backend applications.
“The SeeControl platform enables ATC customers to leverage highly customized applications to clearly display various types of M2M data,” said Dan Nicholson, ATC’s chief technology officer. “We could not be more pleased with the intuitive, flexible layout affording us the ability to effectively display remote tank data as well as expand into future M2M markets.”
ATC said that other “shrink-wrapped” tank-monitoring solutions had failed to meet its needs because they could not be adapted to “differing tank owner scenarios”, and that it wanted a technology partner to provide flexibility to end users without adding to complexity or cost.
“Our communications and M2M solutions are custom and unique to each individual customer and environment,” said Nicholson. “We knew that we needed a cloud software platform able to offer on-the-fly customization.”
“Furthermore, we required a flexible yet simple toolset that could communicate with various equipment manufacturers and display tailored information across multiple industries,” he added.
ATC has indicated that it chose SeeControl on the basis of its tank monitoring capability, advanced analytics and ability to extend beyond tank monitoring and include other types of asset within the same application.
Because the application is hardware-agnostic, ATC customers can continue to use existing hardware and scalability is no longer an issue.
SeeControl claims its platform allows ATC to design and implement new solutions for a client in less than a week and lowers the total cost of tanks significantly.
