ID Systems wins $935,000 remote-monitoring contract in China

Remote-monitoring specialist ID Systems says it has received a purchase order worth $935,000 from a Chinese customer that is one of the world’s biggest consumer packaged goods companies.

ID Systems (Woodcliff Lake, NJ, USA) did not disclose the identity of the Chinese customer, but said the contract will see it deploy its PowerFleet wireless vehicle management system on fleets of industrial trucks at three of the company’s Chinese facilities.

It also indicated the company in question was a “long-time ID Systems customer”.

After implementation of the fleet-management technology, the company will have deployed PowerFleet on more than 1,300 vehicles across 19 sites globally, said ID systems, including facilities in Asia, Africa, Europe, South America and North America.

The recent order was secured and will be managed by ID Systems’ European subsidiary.

“This will be the first deployment of our patented wireless technology in China, the world’s fastest-growing market for industrial vehicles,” said Jeffrey Jagid, ID Systems’ chief executive. “This global CPG customer has clearly derived significant financial and operational benefits from our wireless systems, and we look forward to continue deploying our unique solutions for this customer around the world.”

ID Systems says it currently holds more than 60 patents related to its wireless solutions, including a patent in China for its core electronic control system and network.

The company’s solutions are used for remote monitoring of enterprise assets, industrial vehicles, trailers, containers and cargo.
