Ericsson adds Sri Lanka's Dialog to roster of M2M platform customers

Ericsson has secured another customer for its Device Connection Platform in the shape of Sri Lankan mobile operator Dialog Axiata.

The Swedish vendor claims the technology will give Dialog (Colombo, Sri Lanka) everything it needs to deploy and manage millions of M2M connections.

The largest mobile operator in Sri Lanka, Dialog becomes the first of the country’s players to launch an M2M platform amid growing regional demand for M2M services, and currently serves customers in the utilities, finance, telematics and transport sectors.

“M2M allows for simplified and improved processes, and this brings us a step forward in capitalizing on existing assets to drive market leadership of M2M in Sri Lanka,” said Jeremy Huxtable, group chief officer at Dialog Enterprise, the operator’s business-to-business division.

Dialog believes the Ericsson (Stockholm, Sweden) platform will help it to increase revenue from M2M services, as well as cut operational costs and time to market.

It will mean the operator’s M2M customers can monitor devices anytime and anywhere and access information quickly and accurately.

Ericsson is also to provide consulting and systems integration services to Dialog that will allow the operator to speed up its M2M deployment activities.

It says the ecosystem around its Device Connection Platform will help to generate business growth for Dialog as well as its customers and partners.

In September, Ericsson signed up Orange Business Services and Bell Canada to the Device Connection Platform, and in the Asian region it has provided services to Thailand’s dtac since July.
