Ethos connects with PBB-TE

Targets connection-oriented platforms towards data and wireless backhaul

In this audiocast, Porat addresses the following questions:

Since emerging a few years back with a group of early forerunners such as BT and even smaller carriers like wholesaler Southern Light, PBB-TE has been the talk of the town in the Ethernet world, but now the technology gets a major boost as the IEEE ratified the 802.1Qay connection-oriented Ethernet standard. Talk about the emergence of PBB-TE and the imprortance of having a standard?

Obviously, Ethos along with other frontrunner vendors Nortel, Extreme and the soon to be defunct Soapstone Networks were early supporters of PBB-TE and its related standards, but what are the carriers asking for and what are their thoughts on PBB-TE?

When PBB-TE and PBT started to emerge another camp supporting T-MPLS was also vying for their standard? What are the advatages of PBB-TE over T-MPLS?

What applications are carriers seeing the use of PBB-TE for initially?

In addition to providing the connections for Ethernet, the new standard incorporates CFM. How important will CFM and fault management be to the growth of Ethernet in both in-region and perhaps more pressing out of region deployments via E-NNI arrangements?
