Roland Thornton, Executive Vice President, Wholesale Markets for Qwest addresses the following questions in this Audiocast:
• Roland, you’ve been leading Qwest’s Wholesale division since 2004, and have seen a lot of changes within the wholesale segment. What is one of the most significant changes you’ve seen?
• Qwest serves a diversity of carriers throughout its 14-state territory, including CLECs, ISPs and of course wireless carriers. How do you think Qwest is positioned to serve these diverse wholesale customer segments?
• Even for the largest providers rolling out Ethernet, the reality is they can't get network everywhere, so they have to engage in NNI arrangements with other carrier partners like Qwest. Are you seeing more demand for wholesale Carrier Ethernet? What kind of role does Ethernet play in Qwest Wholesale’s product suite?
• Speaking of Ethernet, are you seeing more wireless carriers request Ethernet for their backhaul needs, or do traditional T1/E1 and TDM-based circuits continue to dominate their needs?
• You talk a lot about customer service. Why is it so important to wholesale customers, and how does Qwest Wholesale continue to improve its service?
• Going into 2009, how do you plan to position Qwest Wholesale to continue on a path of success?
