Huawei launches industry firsts in new converged ultra broadband era

VP Daniel Tang speaks at BBWF

Through its deep interaction with its client base, supported by local team solution solving, Huawei is bringing to market some industry "firsts," highlighting its commitment to assist operators around the globe to move seamlessly to converged “Ultra” broadband.

Speaking exclusively to us here at Broadband World Forum in Brussels, Daniel Tang, VP Network Product Line at Huawei, told us that as a customer focused company, they are serving 30 of the top 50 customers in the world and for that reason they need to be at the forefront of industry requirements.

In the lineup being announced today, is the new 1.28T OTN OptiX OS 8800, OptiX OSN 1800 and 10G GPON prototype, restating Huawei’s position in the all IP broadband field. The 1.28T OSN next generation switched WDM system is an industry first, the OptiX OSN 8800 integrates 40G-100G, ROADm, OTN switch, ASON/GMPLS will provide high bandwidth transport and grooming to meet operator requirements as they prepare backbone networks for full service evolution.

“One of the biggest challenges that operators face today,” said Tang, “is to build converged ultra-broadband bearer networks that can give them the flexibility to quickly deploy a full range of services and the same time as significantly reducing the TCO (total cost of operation) of their entire networks.”

The new 10G GPON is the world’s first standard 10G GPON system compliant with FSAN NGA and has a data rate of 10Gbps downstream and 2.65Gbps upstream. It will easily coexist with current GPON and is compatible with current 2.5G optical distribution networks and platforms. This 10G GPON will realize smooth integration from current GPON and fully guarantees investment made in legacy networks thought the provision of four times the bandwidth.

Huawei has also extended its IPTime solutions from mobile transport solutions to provide the industry’s first FMC-orients unified bearer solutions. IPTime solutions now provide aces to both ultra-broadband and 2G/3G whilst supporting the clock of synchronization of transmission, thereby enabling the end-to-end provision of mobile bearer services on their existing broadband access networks.
