Henrichs addresses the following questions in this Audiocast:

    • The home network has evolved from what was nothing more from maybe a phone jack and an Internet modem to one that includes Set Top Boxes (STBs), gateways, computers, etc. How can the telecom industry make sense of all of this and what are the key enablers to drive more home networks?

    • Actiontec recently just won a deal to provide home networking equipment to Verizon and their FiOS rollout. Do you think that a growing rollout of FTTH will drive greater capabilities for home networks?

    • One other area that’s becoming of increasing concern for the service provider rolling out more advanced services like video is the ability to manage and troubleshoot the home network environment. As the home network becomes more complex with various elements in the home, how key will management for the telco?

    • What, from your perspective, is driving the need for more integrated home gateways by carriers, and do you see differences in approach by carrier and by region?

    • Outside of traditional services like broadband, do you see the home network as a possible place to layer on other new services like home automation and security?
