The competitive telecom landscape in recent years has seen rapid change and necessary consolidation. Still, business customers are looking for new alternative providers that are responsive to their needs.
Knowing that the business customer’s lifeline is their network, New Edge has developed a suite of private networking products that fit the needs of the business customer. In this special NXTcomm 08 edition of Telecommunications’ Audiocast series, Sean Buckley, Editor in Chief, talks with Brett Theiss, director of channel programs and director of product management and training for New Edge Networks.
Theiss addresses the following questions in this Audiocast:
The CLEC, and the overall competitive telecom market, has been
consolidating rapidly over the past year. What’s your take on the state
of the market and where it’s going?
DSL, as we know it has always been a best effort service, but New Edge
has brought it up a level by incorporating Class of Service (CoS) into its
offerings. How has that resonated with the end-user community?
Some analysts have hinted that your DSL with CoS could get the
attention of other service providers that might want to purchase on
wholesale and resell it to their customer base. Do you foresee such a
trend taking place?
One issue we have noted over the years is the bandwidth chasm
between DSL and T1 and DS3 services in the Small to Medium Business
(SMB) market. How can competitive carriers fill that gap?
Outside of DSL services, are you looking at other advanced services
such as Ethernet and Ethernet over Copper?
