Cable continues to gain the mindshare of both SMBs and increasingly medium and larger businesses that are looking for a new alternative communications partner, and Cox Business is certainly an example of that trend. In this special NXTcomm08 edition of Telecommunications' Audiocast series, Editor in Chief Sean Buckley talks to Kristine Faulkner, Vice President of Product Development and Management of Cox Business about the challenges and opportunities of serving the business market.
In this Audiocast, Faulkner addresses the following questions:
Cox Communications and its business services unit continues to make
aggressive inroads to all segments of the business market, including
SMBs. How has your business organization evolved since
launching the service in the 1990s?
Like other MSOs, Cox is very fiber-rich, but there’s a lot of life left in
the HFC that passes by the main streets and back roads. How are you
leveraging that asset to deliver business services?
Let’s switch over to SMBs. It seems that most SMBs, which lack IT
resources and economic resources to buy advanced services, are looking
to their service provider to become an advisor. Do you see yourself
taking on that role for this segment?
As you move farther up-market into larger accounts, what are the
opportunities for growth and related challenges?
In addition to providing voice and data services, Cox continues to make
strident progress in delivering Ethernet services to business customers.
Talk about your Ethernet play and how you will scale that service
throughout 2008 and beyond.
