NetCracker targets the media-rich service environment

Next-gen OSS breaks out of the traditional siloed mentality

While the telecom network has always ruled the game, it’s clear that as service providers move to offer new integrated services, they need an OSS back office system that can accommodate such a transition. In the following Audiocast, Andrew Feinberg, President and CEO of NetCracker, talks about the latest OSS trends and issues affecting today’s service provider.

In this Audiocast, Feinberg answers the following questions:

• Traditionally, all of the power of the telecom operator resided in the network and services were basically provisioned in silos, but it’s clear that the advent of new services such as IPTV and IP telephony is changing this mindset. To start, can you tell us about that transition and how OSS systems need to accommodate this change?

• In the telecom world, there are three main competitors: the telco, the wireless provider and the cable company. Do you see a continued shift in their thinking about the way they construct their back office?

• NetCracker has developed an integrated approach to OSS that basically bridges the divide between IT and the service provider network functions. How has this concept resonated with your service provider customer base?

• Late last year you introduced a series of market capabilities to help service providers make the most of out of their high-speed Ethernet, fiber and VDSL networks. Talk about these new capabilities and what relevance they have for service providers.

• Finally, can you provide a real world example of how a service provider used NetCracker’s integrated approach to improve their ability to integrate improve their OSS framework?
