MetaSwitch’s forward march
Expands geographic reach and service capabilities
by Sean Buckley
Through the late 1990s, there was an emergence of the next-gen Class 5 switch. Out of that class of 1999, only a few survived including MetaSwitch. Graeme MacArthur, Chief Executive Officer of MetaSwitch, discusses the evolution of next-gen IP voice switching and where it's going in 2008.
In this Audiocast, Graeme MacArthur answers the following questions:
• Now that you’ve had four months to settle into your new role as CEO,
what can we expect to see from the MetaSwitch throughout 2008?
• Although the approaches were markedly different, MetaSwitch was one
of the early entrants into the next-gen Class 5 replacement market—one
that’s seen its fair share of ups and downs. Since the company was
formed in the late 1990s, how has this market segment evolved?
• Clearly, MetaSwitch’s offerings aren’t just about voice. Through
partnerships with middleware and associated access network players,
MetaSwitch is making its own stamp on IPTV and interactive services
such as on-screen dialing. Can you tell us a bit about your perspective
on IPTV and the future of interactive services?
• Outside of supplying equipment, MetaSwitch continues to expand its
professional services capabilities. Do you see professional services
becoming more an opportunity for the company?
• While MetaSwitch’s presence in North America is well known, the
company has made progress in both Europe and increasingly Asia-Pac
where you just opened a new support office in Australia. Will we be
seeing increased growth in these regions and others in 2008?
