Interim CEO Tom Gerke sets 2008 agenda
by Sean Buckley
While EMBARQ's name may only be a few years old, the company formerly known as Sprint LTD (Local Telephone Division) and earlier as United Telephone/United Utilities, has roots that extend back to the late 19th century as the former Brown Telephone Company.
In this Audiocast, EMBARQ's interim CEO Tom Gerke talks about how it will continue to focus on developing new innovations while maintaining the fundamental mission to "strive to meet the desires and needs of our customers."
Gerke answers the following questions:
• As EMBARQ’s interim CEO, what are your initial priorities for the first
quarter of 2008?
• EMBARQ has about 19,000 employees, all of whom should be very familiar
with something called the elevator speeches. How do you get that big of
an employee base familiar with these elevator speeches?
• Cable continues to be a prime competitor of your company’s. How do
you plan to overcome this competitive threat?
• A continued focus for EMBARQ is centered around customer
satisfaction. How will you continue to achieve that in the new year and
are there specific steps you plan to take?
• Finally, looking back on 2007, what are some of EMBARQ’s highlights?
