It requires that utility smart grid investments help California meet its climate change, demand-side management and renewable energy goals.

According to Echelon, certifying the ECN product through Verizon Wireless’ (Basking Ridge, N.J.) ChinaComm (Guangzhou, P.R.C) selected the Tellabs (Naperville, IL) SmartCore 9100 platform for a packet core network for broadband wireless access services in Beijing and across nine other mainland Chinese markets. According to Tellabs, it will represent more than 90% of the markets where ChinaComm initially plans to deploy broadband wireless services.

Only 12 months after the public auction, Deutsche Telekom (Bonn, Germany) will launch the first LTE high-speed network (Long Term Evolution) in the major German city of Cologne. According to Deutsche Telekom, after Cologne, more than 100 other cities in the entire country will be provided with next generation mobile communications. Further expansion will occur in the third quarter of 2011, but Deutsche Telekom could not provide an exact date.
According to Deutsche Telekom, the 100 LTE base stations will make surfing with up to 100 Mbit/s possible.
Verizon Wireless (Basking Ridge, N.J.) on Monday announced that they will be showcasing 4G LTE Telematics technology in conjunction with several companies at the Telematics 2011 Conference on June 8-9 in Detroit.
According to Verizon Wireless, its 4G LTE network covers multiple components of Telematics, such as GPS systems, maintenance indicators, wireless Web access, hands-free connectivity and roadside assistance, along with other technologies and applications.

Weather Telematics (Nepean, Ontario), a company that designs and integrates mobile sensing systems for vehicles, created 40 million weather points it its first year. Weather Telematics used mobile assets to carry sensors along major Interstates throughout the United States, pulling readings every ten seconds. This means that weather data is pulled, on average, every 300 meters or 10 seconds at 60 MPH.
