Android and iPhone users in the UK and Ireland can now make use of the service after installing a new pocket-sized AliveCor heart-monitor device to the back of their phones.

“Our ECG analysis service provides a cost effective solution that will empower patients to take control of their heart health any time, anywhere,” said Euan Thomson, president and chief executive officer of AliveCor. “By providing patients expert analysis of their heart health it is our hope that this data, along with the care provided by their doctor, can subsequently guide new behaviors that reduce the risk of developing heart conditions and prevent potential cardiac complications.”

AliveCor’s heart monitor received CE mark conformity – allowing it to be sold within the European Union – in December 2012 and being promoted as the only mobile ECG recorder that supports both iOS and Android mobile devices.

It will record, display, store and transfer single-channel ECG rhythms wirelessly through use of the AliveECG app.

AliveCor says data being transmitted is stored securely in cloud infrastructure that complies with EU data-protection laws and allows users to access data confidentially at any time.
