GSMA's Director of Technology looks forward to 2010 Congress
Mobile broadband, App Planet's debut, embedded opportunities, and mobile metrics to be popular topics next week in Barcelona
by Jared Bazzy, Executive Editor
We recently spoke with Dan Warren, Global Mobile Standard Association's Director of Technology. Warren confessed that he has a "pretty good job," given the scope and range of activities in which he becomes involved.
GSMA will hot the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week, which attracts 50,000 visitors annually. The event remains unparalleled for its mobile conference delegate programs and technical briefings. Away from the hustle and bustle of the show floor, these educational sessions and industry discussions occur through the course of this week-long event. Warren and his peers within GSMA are therefore busy finalizing the program, and launch of new exhibitions within the Congress.
In the midst of his last minute preparations, Warren shared his expectations for this year's event, and shared the Association's outlook on the rollout of HSPA, rating operators, measuring penetration by region, and forecasting for 2010. In addition to these up-to-the-minute reports on Mobile Broadband deployments, Warren previews the new App Planet exhibition and addresses the surging interest in embedded connectivity and networked devices.
"In essence, the World Congress has something for everyone," Warren said. "If you have any particular interest, even very niche interests in the mobile segment, you’ll generally find that there is an event somewhere which you can attend and find new and interesting news coming out of that."
